flumpool x Mayday

Today i would like to share a very wonderful video to you guys!!!>W< One of my favourite Japanese bands sang with a famous Taiwan band!!!!! Here they are! flumpool x Mayday!!!

Official Music video of '証明' by flumpool:

Lyrics:

Here is the original version of the song'証' by flumpool:

(Lyrics from :

I love the quotation, which is re-contextualized by the producer of the first video, from the leader of Mayday:
「融入一個團體很不容易嗎?融入五月天很簡單,帶上耳機就可以了。」-- 五月天 阿信

Breathing you in when I want you out
當我想你時我會聞你味道

Finding our truth in a hope of doubt
曖昧的猜忌尋求真理來證明

Lying inside our quiet drama
蜚語在我們默默以對中發生

Wearing your heart like a stolen dream
溜進你的夢中看清你的心思

Opening skies with your broken keys
用你殘缺的鑰匙來開啟天窗

No one can blind us any longer
再也沒有人可以蒙蔽我們了

We'll run where lights won't chase us
我們逃離到世俗找不到我們的地方

Hide where love can save us
真愛才能拯救我們

I will never let you go
我對你永遠不離不棄

We'll run where lights won't chase us
我們逃離到世俗找不到我們的地方

Hide where love can save us
真愛才能拯救我們

I will never let you go
我對你永遠不離不棄

bilingual stuff with Nishiono Kana(西野カナ)

Today I would like to share some bilingual stuff with you guys through talking about one of my favorite singers, Nishiono Kana(西野カナ). I will try to apply some bilingual concepts in my analysis, or said my sharing and discovery from watching the video. Nishiono Kana(西野カナ) is a famous singer in Japan and also in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Let me share some video and some songs of her for you.

As you see, Nishino Kana sang in Japanese and Chinese subtitles are provided. She also code-switched to Chinese and sang a Chinese song in order to show that she really respects Taiwan’s culture. If you pay attention to the title of the video, you will find that mix-code is used. I don’t know why code-mixing is used here, but I have made a guess of it. Maybe the code-mixing title is for convenience for searching. When I type ‘西野加奈 taiwan’ to search, my result is as following:

When I type ‘西野加奈 台灣’ to search, my result is as following:
當我鍵入「西野加奈 台灣」搜尋時,我得到以下搜尋結果:

Whatever I type ‘西野加奈 taiwan’ or ‘西野加奈 台灣’, I can still find the two video I show at the beginning of this article (blue boxes). But I find an interesting thing is that I got a reminder of ‘Are you searching: 西野加奈 台灣’ when I search video by typing ‘西野加奈 taiwan’. I think it means that the English word ‘Taiwan’ is linked to the Chinese word ‘台灣’.
無論我鍵入「西野加奈 taiwan」或「西野加奈 台灣」,我仍能找到這兩段我在這文章開首時展示過的影片,但我找到一樣很有趣的事,就是當我鍵入「西野加奈 taiwan」時,我得到一個您是不是要查: 西野加奈  台灣」的提示,我猜這代表英文字「taiwan」與中文字「台灣」是互相連結的。

I think Nishino Kana is famous in Taiwan because her song has been translated in Chinese by Taiwan Sony Music for promotion in Taiwan.
我猜西野加奈在台灣非常有名氣是因為她的歌被台灣索尼音樂娛樂股份有限公司翻譯成中文,以用作於台灣的宣傳。

西野加奈「再見」完整中文字幕版

The Chinese subtitles of this Japanese song are one kind of commodified bilingualism, which means bilingualism is used for business purpose or earning money, as the subtitles is made for commercial purpose. It takes target readers as consumers. But the bilingual feature of the following video is totally different from this video. Let’s watch the video first.
商業雙語是指雙語是用作商業用途及賺取金錢,由於那字幕是為商業用途而製作而成,所以這首日本歌曲的中文字幕是一種商業雙語(commodified bilingualism), 它把目標觀眾視為消費者。但以上影片的雙語特徵與這影片完全不同。我們先看看那影片。

西野カナ-私たち WithLyrics @ HongKong APM

The title of this video also involves language mixing, but the difference is that the Chinese subtitles in the video are for the fans of Nishino Kana in Hong Kong to have a better understanding of this song. This is societal bilingualism, which means bilingualism is used for a particular group of audience. It takes target readers as citizens, or maybe friends to share this wonderful song.
這影片的標題也包含了雙語混雜(language mixing),但不同的是這影片的中文字幕是為西野加奈的香港歌迷而製作,讓他們更了解這首歌。這是社會雙語(societal bilingualism),社會雙語是指以特定族群為觀眾的雙語應用。這影片把目標觀眾視為市民,或可能是朋友,去分享這首好歌。

Actually the above analysis is really a simple one. But I hope this can bring you some concepts of bilingualism and introduce Nishino Kana to you. :D Hope you enjoy my sharing. See you next time.
事實上以上只是一篇簡單的分析,但我希望這篇文章能帶出一些雙語概念給大家,以及向你們介紹西野加奈:D希望你喜歡我的分享,下次見!

P.S Nishino Kana is the romanisation of西野カナ. Also, maybe the Chinese translation of some bilingual concepts is not accurate, but I have tried my best to translate them. If you have a better translation of them, please leave a comment to tell me :D

備註:Nishino Kana是西野カナ的羅馬拼音。另外,一些雙語概念的中文翻譯可能不太準確,但我已盡力去翻譯它們了。如果你有它們更好的翻譯版本,煩靖留言告訴我:D

I agree to these teenagers that the song is really catchy and impressive >U< (To be honest, i always sing this song after i have watch this video.) I am sorry that I cannot find a video of Teen react to Dumb Ways to Die with Chinese subtitles and I don't know how to make subtitles to the video.(But the most important reason is that I cannot catch all the native speakers' sentence :( Please forgive me XD)
我同意那些青少年指這首歌很琅琅上口及令人印象深刻。(誠實的說,自動從我看到這段短片後就經常唱這首歌)很抱歉我未能找丁一個有中文字幕版的Teens React to Dumb Ways to Die 而我亦不知道如何把字幕加入影片中。(不過最重要的原因是
我不能捕捉到外國人的所有說話的意思。:( 請原諒我XD)

'Be safe around train, a message from METRO' This sentence comes out at the end of the video. Actually, it really surprises me. I think it is just a video made for fun and entertainment. In fact, it is an advertisement, or PSA- Public Service Announcement.
「在火車周圍要安全」,這是一個來自METRO(註1)的訊息。這句子出現在影片末,事實上,這令我感到意外,我本來以為這影片是因為有趣及娛樂而製作出來的,但其實它是一則廣告,或是公用服務通知。

This video get more and more popular since it has post on Youtube. It is really interesting that the song is so popular that people have done the ukulele or guitar cover of it. You could try playing this song if you are interested in this. Here are the video for tutorial of playing this song with ukulele and guitar.
這影片自從被發佈至Youtube後愈來愈受歡迎,很有趣的是這首歌受歡迎得有人為其製作烏克麗麗版本及結他版本的cover。如有興趣,你可以嘗試演奏這歌曲。以下是以烏克麗麗及結他演奏這歌曲的教學。

Seeking comic songs? Search Ylvis, he's the guy! (part 1)

Hi, I'm Marcella. [Warning: The entry this time may involve more analysis of subtitles.]
Comic songs appear in all languages. However, original ones are not easy to find. However, recently, there's an eye-catching comedy duo who has become a hot topic with the following song.

This version provides Chinese subtitles. However, some of the translation are wrong.
For example:
1) the title, "The Fox" is translated into 狐狸哥哥, which means "Brother Fox" in English. May be the interpreter did it on purpose to make it sound nice in Chinese.
2) The lyrics, And the elephant goes toot" and "And fish go blub". In fact, there's no exact onomatopoeia for elephants and fish in Chinese. However, the interpreter translated the sound of elephants into 『嘟』 and fish into 『哭』. In this line, transliteration may be a better choice, like this version of translated lyrics.
In the chorus part of the song, there's no meaning for the lyrics, the interpreter used transliteration to present that.

The singers are
Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker, the brothers formed a comedy duo namely Ylvis, which is from their Surname. The Norwegian brothers sing  in English and they sing all kinds of genres. The mocking songs and the sudden change of atmosphere of the songs are amazing.
Here are other songs sung by them, with Chinese subtitles.
Ylvis- Jan Egeland
This is a mocking song to Jan Egeland, the United Nations Humanitarian Official.

Examples of errors in translation:
1)"Grey hair" is translated into 白髮,which means white hair, instead of 『灰髮』
2)“Golf” is translated into 小白球, which means little white ball, instead of 『高爾夫球』
The interpreter keeps the name of the persons mentioned in the song in English, which makes this a mix-code subtitle. Some of the translated lyrics used vocabularies that involve personal feelings which it is not carried in the original song. Slang in Chinese( in Taiwan dialect), like 甲甲, meaning gay in Taiwanese sayings.

I will introduce to you other songs of Ylvis next time! Thanks for reading.

HATSUNE MIKU 初音未來(初音ミク)

Have you heard of Hatsune Miku? She is a famous singer in Japan. Maybe i should say: she is the vocaloid(虛擬偶像) in Japan.. :D

A) Yes, I have heard of Hatsune Miku. -> Q1
B) No, I have not heard of Hatsune Miku. ->  please watch the video below -> Q1

Q1) Do you still remember what is your reaction  when you first meet with Hatsune Miku's work?

I am not the fan of her. Actually Hatsune Miku's voice is quite beautiful but it is not the type of voice I like. I just listen for one of her songs and never listen to her song again. Although i am not really obsessed with her songs, I love her appearance and her long hair. :D

Are you be interested in knowing the elderly and kids' reaction to her? I have got some video from youtube about this. \ (> A <) /

Kids' react:

Elders' react:

Technology is really amazing. People use it to create vocaloids and even hold a concert of her. We can see that the action of the vocaloids on the stage is really smooth and vivid. They really sang like a real singers on the stage with dancing. Human's creativity is really powerful. Isn't it?

Nightingale from Demi lovato

Hi, I am Hedy  \(^O^)/

Do you remember what I have shared about the song ‘Skyscraper’? Today I would like to share another song from Demi lovato. Here we go! ‘Nightingale’!

Lyrics(both English and Chinese) can be found in the following link:

Demi wrote this song for hereslf. She said it is a personal song. She miss her friend who was died when Demi was 13 years old. Sometime Demi think she can still feel this friend and this friend like the nightingale (or guardian angel) for her.

Please watch the video from 1:14 to 1:35

Things happened are always irreversible. What we can do is treasuring people and things around us, especially our life. Don’t commit to suicide even though you feel frustrate and desperate. When you feel stressed or hopeless, please watch this video. Listen to the song :D

Winter Sonata 冬季戀歌

Hi there, I am Marcella.
It's getting cold in Hong Kong. Winter's coming!! I started listening to winter songs again this week. And I discovered that one of my favorite songs have many different versions in different languages!!
I was really amazed by the compatibility of the melody! I have to admit that all the versions are so beautiful that I can spend a whole day listening to them without getting bored of them!

Now, let me introduce the songs to you.

中島美嘉 『雪の華』

This is the Japanese version and the original "Yuki no Hana", meaning snowflake. This version is
sung by
Mika Nakashima. It is an all-time winter favorite song and has won a lot of awards.
Cover versions
are sung by many famous singers. The song expressed love and happiness of the
persona to her
boyfriend/ partner when they are walking side by side on a snowy winter day.

Lyrics can be found here:Chinese English

박효신  『 눈의 꽃』

This is the Korean version of 『雪の華』, in Romanji, "Nun-uikkoch", also meaning
"snow flake".
The greatest differences between the Japanese version and the Korean
version is that the Korean version is sung by
박효신,(Park Hyo Shin),a male singer.
Moreover, the persona of the song
is a man. This song has been used as the them
e song of  a TV drama,
미안하다, 사랑한다』, in English, " I'm sorry, I love you".
The story told by in the lyrics is  more less the same as the
Japanese version, except
it's in the view of a male.

This song has been so popular that it was sung in the Voice kids in Korea. Listen to their angelic voices.

Lyrics can be found here: Chinese

蔡淳佳 『对不起,我爱你』
This is a Putonghua version sung by Joi Chua , who is a Singaporean. The name of the song
is " I'm sorry, I love you",which has the same name as the Korean Drama.
The Putonghua
version has a rather sad theme.
The persona is worrying about the relationship
with her boyfriend but she still has hope that they are still in love with each
other.

Lyrics: Chinese

泳兒  『花無雪』
This is the Cantonese version of Yuki no Hana. The song is sung by Vincy, and the name of the song means flower without snow. The song is about the persona breaking up with her boyfriend.

Hayley Westenra --- Snow Flower
This is the English version of Yuki no Hana. This story of the song sticks quite close to the original. However, the love of the persona is the strongest and she is very sure that she and her partner will stay together forever.

Lyrics: English

This singer has performed a famous Chinese love song月亮代表我的心--The moon represents my heart, during the opening ceremony of the World Game in Taiwan on July 16, 2009. In this performance, she sang in Putonghua.

Hayley Westenra is from New Zealand singer who has an angelic voice. She has sung songs of different genres, from folk songs to pop songs. She also sings in different languages, English, Irish, Welsh, Italian, German, French, Portuguese, Latin, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Māori.  Her Putonghua was quite fluent and standard.

靜‧聽 Ripples In the still of Night

  現在已是深夜兩時,在這夜闌人靜的時候,不知道大家在聽什麼歌呢?
It’s 2am now. In this still of the night, which song are you listening to at the moment?

  有人可能還在工作奮鬥,希望來一首旋律輕快勁爆的歌曲提提神;有人可能睡不著,想聽一首節奏悠揚的搖籃曲,好讓自己快快盡入夢鄉。
Some people may still be struggling for their work, hoping to refresh himself with a lively strong beat music. Some may not be able to sleep a wink, hoping to listen to a melodious lullaby which will take him to a dream.

  而我則喜歡一把清澈的聲音─王若琳,她的歌聲充滿靈魂,彷彿在跟你細說著一個動人的故事,讓平靜的晚上泛起了一點漣漪。
For me, I’m fond of a tranquil voiceJoanna Wang. Her voice is spiritually beautiful as though telling you a moving story softly, rippling in the quiet night.

王若琳 Joanna Wang

  王若琳是台灣歌手,自小在美國長大,她曾經翻唱許多知名歌曲,唱得絲毫不比原唱者遜色,反而帶出她獨特的味道,令人沉醉其中。
Joanna is a Taiwanese singer brought up in the United States. She had covered many well-known songs. Her singing is no less pleasing to the ears than the original artist’s as she can bring her uniqueness out in the music, enchanting people so much.

  在此跟大家分享我的最愛─由她翻唱“Vincent”,希望你們喜歡。
Let me share my favourite to all of you her cover version of “Vincent”. I Hope that you will like it.
Vincent - 王若琳 Joanna Wang

Lyrics                                                                      歌詞
Starry, starry night                                           那夜繁星點點,
Paint your palette blue and gray                     你在畫板上塗抹著灰與藍。
Look out on a summer's day                           夏日裡輕瞥一眼
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
便將我靈魂的陰霾洞穿。
Shadows on the hills
暗影鋪滿群山,
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
樹木與水仙花點綴其間,
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
捕捉著微風與料峭冬寒,
In colors on the snowy linen land
用雪原斑駁的色彩。
Now I understand
我終於讀懂了,
What you tried to say to me
你當時的肺腑之言。
How you suffered for your sanity
獨醒於眾人間的你是那麼痛苦,
How you tried to set them free
你多想解開被禁錮者的繫絆。
They would not listen
可他們卻充耳不聞,
They did not know how
對你視若不見。
Perhaps they'll listen now
也許,現在聽還為時不晚……
Starry, starry night
那夜繁星點點,
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
鮮花盛放,火般絢爛
Swirling clouds in violet haze
紫幕輕垂,雲舒雲卷。
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
都逃不過文森特湛藍的雙眼
Colors changing hue
色彩變化萬千,
Morning fields of amber grain
清晨琥珀色的谷田,
Weathered faces lined in pain
張張飽經風霜與苦痛的臉,
Are smoothed beneath the artist's Loving hand
在畫家筆下漸漸舒展。
Now I understand
我終於讀懂了,
What you tried to say to me
你當時的肺腑之言。
How you suffered for your sanity
獨醒於眾人間的你是那麼痛苦,
How you tried to set them free
你多想解開被禁錮者的繫絆。
They would not listen
可他們卻充耳不聞,
They did not know how
對你視若不見。
Perhaps they'll listen now
也許,現在聽還為時不晚……
For they could not love you
他們根本不會在乎你,
But still your love was true
你對他們的愛卻未曾改變。
And when no hope was left inside
當最後一點希望都一去不返,
On that starry, starry night
在那繁星點點的夜晚,
You took your life
你憤然結束自己的生命,
As lovers often do
如熱戀中盲目的人兒一般。
But I could have told you, Vincent
文森特,我本該告訴你。
This world was never meant for one
像你這樣美好的靈魂,
As beautiful as you
                                      本就不該來這骯髒的世間。
Starry, starry night
那夜繁星點點,
Portraits hung in empty halls
空曠的大廳裡畫作高懸。
Frameless heads on nameless walls
無名的牆上無框的肖像,
With eyes that watch the world
用注視整個世界的雙眼,
And can't forget
把一切刻在心田。
Like the strangers that you've met
就像你曾遇見的匆匆過客,
The ragged men in ragged clothes
襤褸的人身著破爛的衣衫。
The silver thorn of bloody rose
血紅玫瑰上銀白的利刺,
Lie crushed and broken
零落成泥、摧折寸斷,
On the virgin snow
散落於皚皚雪間。
Now I think I know
我想我現在懂了,
What you tried to say to me
你當時的肺腑之言。
How you suffered for your sanity
獨醒於眾人間的你是那麼痛苦,
How you tried to set them free
你多想解開被禁錮者的繫絆。
They will not listen
而他們根本不會去聽,
They're not listening still
此刻,仍無人在聽
Perhaps, they never will
也許,永遠。
